Roman Holiday

J.Crew Dress (on sale, also love this similar option), Urban Outfitters Hat (on sale for $20), Bulgari Bag (borrowed), Lacoste Sneakers

We had to take a train from Florence to Rome to fly to Athens in order to get to Mykonos, so instead of just passing through, we decided to spend a day in Italy’s capital. There is so much to see and do in Rome and 24 hours is not nearly enough time to enjoy what the city has to offer. Luckily, we had been three years prior on our honeymoon and did tours of Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica, the Roman Forum, Colosseum, the Pantheon and Villa Borghese. So this time around we did a mini walking tour of our own (taking inspiration from Roman Holiday), stopping by the Spanish Steps, walking along Via Veneto, visiting the Pantheon again and seeing the Trevi Fountain (which is unfortunately under construction).

Before beginning our Roman adventure, we had to fuel up! Our hotel, Portrait Roma, recommended this small Italian restaurant, Dillà, for lunch. We ordered two glasses of wine, two salads and shared a bowl of pasta. It was delicious and worth adding to your restaurant list if you’re visiting Rome. It’s also located right around the corner from Via Condotti, one of the best streets for shopping in Rome (and the same street our hotel was located on).

The summers are HOT in Rome, so this lightweight cotton dress from J.Crew was perfect along with a big hat to keep the sun off my face. Last minute, I changed out of flats and into sneakers since I knew we would be walking all day, which was the best idea. I actually really love the look of a summer dress paired with sneakers and it’s way more practical while traveling. Thomas and I also got to stop by the Bulgari store in Rome (their flagship location) and pick up a few goodies for a shoot that I’ll be sharing soon! They let me borrow this gorgeous bag from their Serpenti collection while we were in town and I completely fell in love with it.

Outfit Details:

Gap Denim Jacket (similar here on sale), Madewell Dress, Chloe Bag, Steve Madden Sandals, NARS “Heat Wave” Lipstick

Bringing a quick little Sunday post your way! Thomas and I just arrived back home and I’ve been going through the  many, many pictures from our trip, with some of my all-time favorite photos we’ve taken. I can’t wait to share more with you all over the next couple of weeks. While in Rome, Thomas and I stayed at the Portrait Roma, which had spectacular views of the city. When traveling, we always look for rooftop bars or restaurants so we can get a 360 degree view of the city if possible, and got lucky with our hotel being the spot this time. After spending the whole day exploring, we quickly changed for dinner and headed out for pizza.

I had worn this Madewell dress multiple times on our trip as it’s just one of those dresses that you fall back on. This particular evening, I paired it with my white denim jacket and two-toned sandals that are a great walking shoe & so comfortable.

My cross-body Chloe bag has remained a favorite travel bag of mine for a few years now. It’s the perfect travel size and the cognac color pairs with everything.

It had rained briefly during our time in Rome (following us from Florence) but I loved the way it made the city glow at sunset once it stopped. You can slightly see the sun going down in the distance, which lit up the sky right when we arrived to dinner. So beautiful!

Outfit Details:

Express Sweater, Shorts & Flats, Burberry Coat, Fendi Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses

After spending most of the weekend inside unpacking, catching up on emails and editing photos, Thomas and I took our bikes out on Sunday afternoon for some fresh air around the neighborhood. It’s always nice to come home to our familiarities and routines like getting takeout and binge watching one of our favorite shows.

How cute are these striped flats from Express? At under $40, they’re a steal!

These high waisted sailor shorts might be my favorite Express item ever. I love them so much that I also bought them in light blue but they also come in white, red and denim (which would be darling for the 4th!). I went for a more nautical vibe with a classic striped sweater and red lip for this summery afternoon spent in sunshine.

Sunday Farmer’s Market

Outfit Details:

Old Navy Tank, Skirt & Bag, Hunter Boots, Illesteva Sunglasses

After traveling for more than two weeks, Thomas and I couldn’t wait to get home and cook up some fresh, healthy meals. Even though a little jet-lagged, we made our way to the farmer’s market on Sunday morning to stock up on all of our favorite fruits and veggies (plus a bouquet of the prettiest sunflowers). With a big tote in hand, we slowly perused through each stand, nibbling and sampling along the way.

I can hardly believe that the 4th of July is this weekend! I recently picked up these pieces from Old Navy that make for the perfect low-key but still patriotically chic holiday look (hello stars & stripes!) The subtle star print on this gauzy skirt mixes seamlessly with this striped tank since they’re both in the same shade of navy. I would switch out my Hunters for a pair of sneakers or sandals to make this look work for a summer bbq this weekend.

When we were traveling home, Thomas and I played the game of “What’s the first thing you want to eat when you get home” (as we often do when we’re gone for longer periods of time). All I wanted was a huge bowl of fresh fruit and a big, yummy salad.

I love a good multi-purpose tote. This red, white & blue striped one from Old Navy is perfect for groceries and farmer’s market hauls as well as trips to the beach, gym or used as a mini weekender bag.

gal-meets-glam-farmers-market27

I always appreciate our beautiful city so much every time we come home, especially when a warm summer day is waiting for us. Just in case of the always expected SF breeze, I tied an old white button down around my waist to thrown on at any minute.

Thank you to Old Navy for sponsoring this post.

Scootering Around Mykonos

Outfit Details:

Look 1: Urban Outfitters Romper, Illesteva Sunglasses, Beach Tote (bought in Mykonos Town, similar here), Soludos Espadrilles (in white here), Blaine Bowen Bracelets, Gold & Gray Tassel Bracelets

Look 2: Marysia Bikini, Missoni Shorts, Scarf

This was one of my favorite days we spent in Mykonos. We didn’t stay at any one place too long, but instead spent the day riding our scooter around to a handful of beaches, back roads, scenic spots and a little bit of everything in between. We spend so much time planning out each day depending on what we’re shooting or if we’re working on a campaign, so it was nice to head out with no specific plans in order.

gal-meets-glam-day-in-mykonos2
gal-meets-glam-day-in-mykonos44

gal-meets-glam-day-in-mykonos1

The inland landscape of Mykonos is just as serene and beautiful as the views of the Aegean Sea. When the light hits the fields of tall grass, they light up like gold and we couldn’t help but stop, sit and take it all in for half an hour. It was one of those unexpected peaceful times where you’re thinking to yourself “I’m  going to remember this moment forever.” They happen when you least expect them to.

I was probably a little too excited when I saw a pink helmut sitting at the bike rental office. It was like it was just waiting there for me :)

The beaches in Mykonos were beautiful, not the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, but beautiful all the same.** The waters were bright blue and the beach setups were always on point with lounge chairs, colorful umbrellas or canopies and day beds. We stopped for just enough time to have a cocktail and watch the waves crash before popping over to the next spot.

**What I mean by this: I would not go to Mykonos for the sole purpose of its beaches (like I would Hawaii or Mexico) but the beaches are still stunning.

I wore this white embroidered romper from Urban Outfitters for most of the day before slipping on my Marysia scalloped bikini and Missoni shorts. I brought so much white for this trip because I knew it would photograph beautifully with the scenery, but naturally I had a few pink things like my soludos and reflective sunglasses.

Magical Santorini

Outfit Details:

J.Crew Dress (on sale for $18!), She Made Me Bikini, J.Crew Sandals (30% off w/ code LONGWEEKEND), Dior Sunglasses

There is no other word to describe Santorini other than magical. On our ferry ride over, Thomas and I were talking about how Mykonos would be hard to top. We fell in love with the town, with the endless white buildings and royal blue water that would ombré into different shades of turquoise. As the ferry started to get closer to Santorini and we rounded the corner into the Caldera, we could make out the town of Oia (where we were staying) and I got goose bumps all over my body. It was one of the most incredible sights to see- hundreds of little white houses perched on top of this massive cliff!

gal-meets-glam-santorini12
gal-meets-glam-santorini

As I mentioned previously, Thomas and I chose to stay in Oia during our time in Santorini as we read that it was the most scenic (if you’ve seen a picture of Santorini, it’s probably from Oia) and charming town. One thing I didn’t realize before going was that you pretty much have an amazing view anywhere. I went back and forth and back and forth on which hotel to book or air bnb to rent, looking for the best view. It doesn’t really matter where you stay in Oia, you’re going to have a great view. With that being said, I LOVED our hotel. We stayed at Kirini the first few days (we booked late and they didn’t have availability for our whole stay) and I would go back in a heart beat. It was on the outskirts of the town, so it had one of the best views. Everything was white and it was pure bliss.

I slipped into this J.Crew dress and couldn’t help but twirl out of pure happiness. I turned to Thomas and told him I never wanted to leave!

gal-meets-glam-santorini4

The pool was one of the best features of Kirini, I think. The Greek sun was hot and we immediately took a dip in the pool after arriving. I’ve had this She Made Me bikini since last spring and I’ve become such a big fan of their crochet swimsuits. I’ve received so many compliments on this one!

The endless blues and blues have me excited about slipping back into my swimsuit for the 4th of July this weekend. A Day In Mykonos

Outfit Details:

Look 1: Reformation Dress, Bulgari Sunglasses c/o, Joie Sandals, Figue Bag

Look 2: Coverup & Bag found in Mykonos Town, Marysia Bikini, Bulgari Sunglasses c/o, Gap Sandals

When we first arrived to Mykonos, I was having a little bit of sensory overload! I wanted to take it all in at one moment, not wanting to miss a single thing. We woke up early on our first day and headed down to Mykonos Town to explore, do a little shopping and grab some food. I slipped on my light linen dress for the warm Greek weather and added my cat-eye Bulgari Diva sunglasses that add a vintage yet sophisticated touch. The updated, retro design is right up my alley- a chic mix of classic, feminine and modern all in one.

A relaxed look that’s easy to throw on and go is a must in Mykonos, where the style is much more on the casual side (it’s nearly impossible to wear heels walking through the cobbled streets). We planned on picking up our scooter later in the afternoon, so we took the shuttle from our hotel to the marina, which is the closest part to the town where cars can drive in. We walked the scenic path along the water into the small little alleys and streets that are lined with the cutest restaurants and hundreds of shops just waiting to be discovered.

After stopping into one too many stores (I just didn’t want to miss anything!) and getting a little lost in the winding streets, we made our way to the most amazing frozen greek yogurt place, Happyo, to cool down from the heat. We slowly walked back to the marina, making many stops along the way to take pictures of the bright bougainvilleas everywhere- so gorgeous! Once we got back to our hotel, we mapped out the rest of our day, figuring out which beaches we wanted to check out first. I quickly changed into a bikini and paired it with a new white crochet coverup I bought in town along with my pink Bulgari Diva sunglasses. The endless blues and whites in Mykonos made me want to wear white all day long with pops of colors through my accessories- a beautiful contrast with the nude and pink rubellite in my sunglasses.

Renting a scooter is the best way to get around the island. It made it easy to stop whenever we wanted to grab a photo and it’s nice to not have to rely on someone else’s time. We rode over to Ornos Beach, which is on the southwest corner of Mykonos and has plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas along with a handful of restaurant and drinks places. Some of the beaches in Mykonos are filled with seating to rent out while others are more remote and don’t have facilities, so be sure to figure out ahead of time which one you’re going to. After lounging beachside for while, we hopped back on our scooter and rode over to Panormos Beach, located on the north side of the island. There you’ll find one of the most beautiful bohemian beach set-ups with chic white day beds and colorful pillows. Make sure to stop by the only restaurant, Panormas Beach Bar, located right on the beach with the same boho look and feel. After a long day out in the sun, we finally made it back to our hotel with just a few minutes to spare before sunset. We ordered drinks at the bar and made our way to the rooftop terrace to take in the last views of the day.

Thank you to Bulgari for sponsoring this post.

Outfit Details:

Madewell Top (on sale & last seen here), Cedric Charlier Skirt (on sale, more sizes available here and here/ similar here), Prada Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses, Chanel Flats

Oh, Notting Hill. I love you and your endless pastel colors so much. I could spend hours and hours wandering the colorful streets of charming homes and bright boutiques and shops. We had the best time one afternoon last October with our friend Briony exploring Notting Hill and couldn’t wait to get back. It’s kind of our favorite place ever and reminds us a bit of San Francisco. Summer in London was good to us, with sunny skies, warm temps and the most fragrant, floral smell that filled the city (honestly, I could bottle it up and make a perfume!)

gal-meets-glam-notting-hill-color34

I had my eye on this yummy Cedric Charlier skirt for months and finally pulled the trigger when it went 60% off, making it an even sweeter purchase! It’s without a doubt, the most beautiful skirt (and maybe even clothing item?) I own.

We made our way over to Portobello Road and browsed through the market (almost picking up a few vintage cameras) but mostly just to window shop the dozens of antique stores for inspiration for our home that we’re still decorating. It’s a fun spot if you’re planning a trip to London and great starting point to venture the streets of Notting Hill.

While I absolutely love this skirt, even on sale, it’s expensive. I’ve found a few very similar pleated skirts online that are still just as feminine and pretty but more budget friendly- like this one for $55, this one that’s currently 40% off, this Topshop one on sale for $20, this gorgeous Anthropologie one that’s a similar shade to mine and this mint Reiss one on sale. Pair it with any simple white blouse (or pick up my Madewell one that’s on sale) and slip on a pair of flats and you’ve got yourself a look that you’ll want to repeat again and again.

Outfit Details:

Madewell Jacket, Express One Eleven Tee, Express Jeans, Fendi Bag, Express Wedges, Illesteva Sunglasses

San Francisco always pulls out my more casual side, with a simple white tee and jeans being the best of the basics. In the midst of a very busy week, I headed out, top knot up high and made my way over for a mid-day boost of coffee. As winds picked up and the fog rolled in over the bridge and into the Marina, I grabbed a lightweight jacket before I headed out.

Wrecking Ball coffee has been a favorite neighborhood spot since it popped up on Union Street last year. I know the pineapple print wallpaper brings a lot of people in (hello, Instagram backdrop) but their coffee is really, really good. Get the almond milk latte!

Similar to these Express shorts I wore in this post, these jeans have the same sailor side buttons. They add a preppy touch to such a simple look and I paired them with my tallest wedges to elongate my legs with the bell flare.

This white tank is also one of the softest tees I own (currently still wearing it as I type). It drapes in all the right places, flattering any figure. I topped off the look with this military inspired jacket that I picked up for and wore all throughout our Alaska trip.

I’ve been buried in my office the past week going through so many photos of our time in Greece. I have a handful of posts left to share of our wonderful time spent in Oia wandering the marble road and watching lavender colored sunsets. Every alleyway lead to a new surprise, a new view and a new perspective of the island.

On our first evening, we made our way to Oia Castle to the “sunset spot” to watch our first sunset in Santorini. We heard it would be crowded, so we arrived a little early. Well, apparently everyone got the memo and it was packed– do you see all of those people in the photo above? Warning: It was like this every night. We decided to skip the best view point (on this night) and take a few back alleys to a less crowded and quiet area.

These Soludos are the perfect summer shoe. I have them in multiple colors now and love pairing them with airy dresses and skirts. The linen fabric adds a nice texture and dresses the look down. They’re also super lightweight and easy to pack- a great traveling flat.

A few weeks back, Thomas and I ended the week early and drove down to Laguna Beach for an extended weekend. We were happy to arrive to clear skies and warm temps. It’s not the often that we get down to Southern California, so it’s always a treat when we do. There’s a laid-back vibe that instantly soothes us and makes us go at a slower pace.

I’m just about coming to an end with our posts from Greece, so I feel like I’m savoring every last bit. That’s one of the great perks of having a blog is that we overshoot everywhere we travel, which means lots of visual memories to have forever. Now I just need to print some of these out and put them around our house to remind us of this wonder trip. This day, we walked back into Oia town for some lunch and a little more wandering…

Honestly, the best way to see the city is to just get lost. You never know which street or alleyway will lead up to a view like this. We kept turning down paths and almost every time, ended up finding something incredible. Like the door below for example, it blew my mind that it looks like it just leads to the endless blues of the Agean Sea!

gal-meets-glam-white-ruffles41
gal-meets-glam-white-ruffles55

gal-meets-glam-white-ruffles1

We switched hotels mid-stay in Santorini because we booked last minute and neither of the hotels we liked had rooms during our whole stay. It ended up working out great because we had two different views and perspectives of Oia from each! This was the view from our balcony at Ikies, which is the furthest away from the town (but only about 10 minute walk) but had arguably the best view!

We had the best souvlaki of our trip at Nikos Place in Oia. We went back twice because it was that good- I think it was the fresh tzatziki and perfectly crispy pita bread that made it stand apart. Since we don’t eat meat, we ordered the vegetarian version and asked for extra vegetables (tomatoes, onions and cucumbers).

This is another little white dress (last one seen here) that I brought with me to Greece. I thought it would be ruined forever after I got thrown in a pool fully clothed (in good fun) by a friend, but my dry cleaner was able to bring it back to life, luckily! I wore it over my bikini and paired with my gladiator sandals during the day but had previously dressed it up with heels and statement earrings for the evening.

Old Navy Top & Skirt, K. Jacques Sandals, Fendi Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses, BaubleBar Bangle

As we drove through the Loire Valley, the first place that caught our eye was Amboise, specifically Château d’Amboise. We wanted to visit Loire Valley obviously for the French Châteaux and we were not disappointed with our first sighting. Amboise, that sits along the Loire River, was built after the 15th century and was used as a royal residence. Its grandeur is remarkable and hard to miss from the road, making you want to drive over and learn more.

gal-meetsg-glam-amboise26

We traveled from Paris to Tours by train and then drove to Onzain, where we’re staying. On longer travel days, I usually wear something much more relaxed like this denim on denim look from Old Navy. I paired the two pieces with my camel colored accessories that I’ve been wearing with almost everything on our trip.

gal-meetsg-glam-amboise2
gal-meetsg-glam-amboise7

There are restaurants sitting along the river looking out at the chateau, which is just stunning at sunset with the reflection on Loire River.

Leonardo Di Vinci actually spent his final years living in Amboise as a guest of the King and is buried there at the Chapel of Saint Hubert. This is one of the reasons why Amboise is such a popular tourists spot, but you’ll find lots of restaurants and cafes lining the main square. Thomas and I stopped for dinner and gelato before heading back to our hotel after sunset.

I love this lightweight chambray top with embroidery around the neckline- I also picked up the dress version in black with white details. And if you’ve been looking for a denim skirt, this mini from Old Navy is perfect and only $25. The length and high-rise fit are extra flattering and easy to pair with almost any top (button-ups, crop tops, tees, etc.)

Thank you to Old Navy for sponsoring this post.

Maison Jules Dress c/o, Club Monaco Belt, LOFT Sandals, Dior Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses

Montmartre was one part of Paris that Thomas and I had never visited before. From pictures online and descriptions from friends, you’ll find pastels homes, big hills, cute cafés and winding little streets (sounds a little bit like San Francisco!) We were so excited to be in Paris again and have the chance to head over and spend the day exploring this charming part of the city. I slipped on this breezy Maison Jules midi dress that has the faintest pale pink gingham print, perfect for a summer day in Paris.

The Sacré-Cœur dome above is the second highest point in Paris aside from the Eiffel Tower! You’re also high above the city at the top of Square Louise Michel, which has a spectacular view of Paris.

gal-meets-glam-maison-jules4

We stopped at Cafe Francoeur after reading great reviews and had a yummy brunch with rosé (it reminded me of my favorite spot back home, Rose’s Cafe). The cafés are one of my favorite things about Paris. I could sit at a little table outside and people watch all day long.

gal-meets-glam-maison-jules1

gal-meets-glam-maison-jules-paris31

I could easily start a series called “Doors In Paris”, I have countless images on my phone and am constantly making Thomas stop to get a snap of each one. They’re all so grand with such exquisite detail.

gal-meets-glam-maison-jules-paris8

Place du Terte is filled with more cafés and artists on ever corner. It’s absolutely packed with tourists (or at least was while we were there) but was at least worth a walk through.

We stopped mid-day for an espresso pick-me-up at Cafe Tabac to reenergize for more walking…or maybe we stopped for the pink espresso cups ;)

A light dress like this Maison Jules one is great for traveling because it’s so easy and relaxed- no fussing throughout the day. I think that there is no other hemline that’s more feminine than a midi length. This midi dress and this one, both by Maison Jules, are beautiful options as well, but you can shop all of their dresses here.  You can also share your own pieces of Paris- whether it be in Paris or somewhere near home that reminds you of Paris- with the hashtag #MJPiecesOfParis

Thank you to Maison Jules for sponsoring this post.

Lucca Couture Top & Skirt (both currently 40% off), Celine Bag (similar here, here and here), Illesteva Sunglasses, Chanel Flats (similar here and here), Bobbi Brown Lipstick in “Blazing Red”

On the morning of Bastille Day in Paris, Thomas and I woke up early and headed out to prepare for our long day ahead. We were meeting our friends later in the afternoon for a picnic and we were in charge of bread and sweets, so off we went in search of a delicious Parisian bakery.

gal-meets-glam-around-paris52
gal-meets-glam-around-paris53

We walked over to Saint Germain from our hotel, Regina Paris, that’s right across the street from Jardin des Tuileries (one of my favorite gardens in Paris). We spotted Ladurée on the corner of Rue Bonaparte and decided to pick up some goodies and stay for cappuccinos and macarons. We usually only stop into the bakery to grab a box of macarons and go, but I loved trying out their cafe, which has the prettiest china and decor.

After a jolt of caffeine and sugar, we kept exploring the neighborhood until we found a bakery that had all the goods we wanted- a baguette, eclairs and croissants. Saint Germain is also one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris, next to the Marais, since it’s filled with so many cute restaurants and shops.

We ended up spending the whole day walking around Paris, with Thomas’s Jawbone Up band saying that we walked over 23,000 steps! That’s one of the things I love about Paris- being able to walk almost everywhere. On our way back to our hotel, we stopped by Palais Royal for a quick photo op, since we had never been before.

gal-meets-glam-around-paris14

We got to watch the planes fly over for Bastille Day, which was so cool and quite the show!

I wore this two piece set by Lucca Couture that’s currently 40% off and less than $70 for both pieces. I love matching sets because it’s like buying three outfits- you can wear them together, pair the top with shorts or any other bottoms in your closet and vice vera with the skirt and any other tops you have.

Soprano Dress, Prada Bag, Soludos Lace Sneakers, Illesteva Sunglasses, Fresh Lip Balm in “Rose”, TCP x Minnie & Emma iPhone Case

While in Loire Valley, Thomas and I stayed at the beautiful Domaine des Hauts de Loire. It’s a hunting lodge from the 19th century that’s in the middle of a forest in the château filled valley. We drove through vast fields of sunflowers and wheat, passing rivers and villages built centuries and centuries ago. It’s a pretty surreal place, that welcomes you with ivy covered buildings and hydrangeas galore.

gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow16

gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow31

As one who never likes to turn down a good bow, I couldn’t pass up this darling bow-back yellow dress that’s only $52 . The fit is just right and the length is just a tad below a mini, making it perfect for petite or tall girls.

gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow53
gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow9

gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow64

The temperatures hit over 100 degrees, so we cooled down with lemonade and rosé in between visiting the châteaux of the area, which I’ll be sharing in a later posts (but you can see a few on my insta here, here and here!)

We’re on our feet the whole day, so it only makes sense to wear flats, sandals or sneakers. These lace espadrilles (last seen here) are the perfect combination of feminine and practical. They also come in an espadrille form.

Are these not the most lush hydrangeas you’ve ever seen!? Loire Valley is filled with them in all shades, especially pink, which brightened up the stone buildings and mostly green surroundings. Usually there are other flowers, like roses and peonies, but because of the heat, most of them were wilted or dead.

gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow69
gal-meets-glam-yellow-bow70

I’m loving this combination of pink and yellow! I wear my pink Illesteva sunglasses with everything, as I’m sure you all can tell. This yellow bow dress also comes in a few different shades like white (that’s currently on sale!), pink and this iridecent shade.

Lord & Taylor Dress (sold out) , Ralph Lauren Tote, Dolce Vita Sandals (look 1), Michael Kors Sandals (look 2), Sam Edelman Wedges

You can probably tell by the abundance of images below that this was a long day, but a great day! Thomas and I headed out in the morning and spotted this sunflower field along our drive and pulled over immediately. I mean, how could you not? They’re just so cheerful and were calling our name!

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham10
gal-meets-glam-red-gingham19

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham15

My red gingham dress is from Lord & Taylor and such an easy piece! Gingham + sunflowers= the epitome of summer, am I right? It’s a flirty little mini that’s light and airy for a hot summer day.

I’m always switching out my shoes throughout the day, especially while traveling, so I love carrying a big tote like this Ralph Lauren striped one to store all my goods. I started the day with these slip on espadrille sandals by Dolce Vita from Lord & Taylor. They’re a bit edgier for me, but the espadrille bottom softens up the black leather.

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham14

We drove into Tours for lunch, but since we were a bit late in the afternoon, everything was closed except a few bakeries. So we picked up a few baguettes and water and made our way around town, visiting Saint Gatien’s Cathedral and stopping for some ice cream in the gardens of Musée des Beaux-Arts. I had changed into these Michael Kors embellished sandals from Lord & Taylor upon our arrival that definitely added a bit of glam to the look.

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham30

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham32

We then made our final stop at Château Villandry, one of the most beautiful châteaux in Loire Valley. The decor was stunning, filled with pastel colors, French antiques and prints on prints.

gal-meets-glam-keep

gal-meets-glam-red-gingham35
gal-meets-glam-red-gingham36

For the last part of the day, I changed into my Sam Edelman wedges from Lord & Taylor that add a little bit of height (which is always nice) and are still comfortable enough to walk around in.

The decor of Villandry is undoubtably beautiful, but what makes the property extra special is the gardens. The Renaissance gardens include a vegetable garden, a maze, a water and flower garden. You can spend hours on the property and still not see it all! We tried to get through as much as possible, not wanting to miss a hidden gem.

If you’re visiting Loire Valley, definitely add Chateau Villandry to your list! It was incredibly special and a wonderful place to spend the afternoon or evening. The gardens were so peaceful, we could have taken a nap on the vast lawns near the water garden, listening to the birds chirp and the soft sounds of the water fountains.

Thank you to Lord & Taylor for sponsoring this post.

Outfit Details:

Maggy London Dress (on sale for $88), K. Jacques Sandals (sold out, similar here), Illesteva Sunglasses, Fendi Bag

The largest and most visited château in Loire Valley is the very grand Château de Chambord. Thomas and I made our way over to the massive property mid morning in hopes to beat the crowds and the heat. We were unsuccessful at both, but we seemed to find a few spots that were off the beaten path that gave us both an unobstructed view and a calming moment to take in the beauty.

gal-meets-glam-chateau1
gal-meets-glam-chateau22

gal-meets-glam-chateau23

Château de Chambord is know for its elaborate French Renaissance architecture and with over 440 rooms, 280+ fireplaces and 77 staircases, it’s by far the largest château in Loire Valley. One could spend hours upon hours wandering the gardens and outside of the property without having time to even see the opulent inside of the château.

gal-meets-glam-chateau21
gal-meets-glam-chateau38

gal-meets-glam-chateau10

This Maggy London dress is up there among my favorite dresses I’ve ever worn! The fit and the fabric are that of a dress that’s at least $300, but it’s currently on sale for $88. The overall look reminds me a bit of a Dolce & Gabbana dress I tried on in Florence and fell in love with, but at a much smaller price point. The full skirt swings beautifully and actually keeps you quite cool on a hot day.

Can you spot me in the picture above? Thomas and I were obsessed with these spiral staircases before we even got to the property and knew we wanted to get this shot. Unfortunately, most of the staircase was closed, so we couldn’t go up all the way.

I’ve been mixing my lace up gladiator sandals (last seen here) to dress down a lot of my feminine dresses that could easily look too formal if paired with the wrong accessories during the day. I’ve pulled a few other similar floral midi dresses here, here and here for more inspiration.

On Julia- Gap Tee, Joie Skirt (on sale), Ferragamo Flats, Fendi Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses, Silver May Bangles

On Rose- Chinti & Parker Dress, Tod’s Loafers, Lanvin Bag

I’m jumping back to our time spent in London last month since I was never able to get these images up, but I didn’t want to miss posting them! We had been in Italy for a few days with Luisaviaroma and our friends from London (remember from here and here). We were so excited about having a few days in their city before we flew home. Rose had mentioned we should do a picnic, and as someone who knows the best of the best in London, she didn’t disappoint with taking us to the beautiful Kenwood House for the afternoon.

Of course, Mr. Custard tagged along. I let him borrow my boater hat for the afternoon and I think it suits him pretty well, don’t you think?

gal-meets-glam-kenwood-house82

We didn’t coordinate outfits, but it’s funny how we always end up complimenting each other. We did this three times while in Italy! I just love Rose’s eyelet dress. I wore my pink striped tee from Gap paired with this feminine skirt from Joie that’s currently on sale. The perfect picnic attire- easy and sweet. We were barefoot most of the day, but I wore my camel colored Ferragamo flats that I bought while in Florence. The color is so flattering with a tanned skin.

If you recognize the property, that’s because it was in the movie Notting Hill. Remember when Hugh Grant visits Julia Roberts while she’s filming the time piece? That’s Kenwood House. It’s absolutely stunning, with tall grass and lush trees everywhere. The sun had a beautiful glow and the birds were chirping all afternoon.

Missing London already but we hope to go back later this year as it’s one of our favorite cities. If you’re planning a trip, visiting Kenwood House is definitely worth the trip. It was about a 30 minute uber from our hotel in South Kensington, but the property is big enough to stay for the whole afternoon. We obviously brought our own food, but they have a café in the garden that would be a lovely spot for lunch as well.

Outfit Details:

LOFT Dress (currently 50% off, top version & romper version), Club Monaco Belt, LOFT Flats, Fendi Bag, Illesteva Sunglasses, Urban Outfitters Hat (sold out, similar here)

After Loire Valley, Thomas and I took the train to Avignon and spent the rest of our time driving around Provence, stopping in small cities and villages along the way. While in Provence, we did have one mission, and that was finding lavender fields. We did a bit of research ahead of time and read that some of the best lavender fields were in Sault and Valensole, the largest commercial growing areas. Driving into Sault, we rolled down our windows and took in the lavender perfumed air, there really is no other experience like it! We ended up finding one of the best fields in Sault, but unfortunately when we got to Valensole, most of the fields were already harvested.

gal-meets-glam-ginham-dress-loft21

I wore this gingham dress from LOFT that’s made of the most lightweight cotton, perfect for a hot summer day, which it was. We were sweltering in the 100+ temps, eventually cooling off with some lavender ice cream.

We stopped in Gordes along our drive, a scenic hilltop village in the Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of Provence. Throughout history, Gordes had been known for the value of its land, which led to constant invasions. To protect themselves, they built a fortified city on the hilltop, which resulted in what’s known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Along the drive to our hotel, Domaine de la Baume, we found a field of the tallest sunflowers we’ve ever seen! They were towering over both me and Thomas, who is 6 feet. We found dozens of sunflower fields in both Loire Valley and Provence, but these were the best we had seen during our trip. They glowed in the evening sunlight.

gal-meets-glam-ginham-dress-loft23

You guys must know by now that I’m a sucker for gingham and I love these other gingham options from LOFT like this romper, these shorts, these pants and this top. You can switch them out and pair with white jeans, a simple cotton top or denim jacket. Either way, they’ll give you the perfect-picnic style look.

Thank you to LOFT for sponsoring this post.
